South West Regionals report by Chris Rowcliffe

Our South West Regionals series started with the 4wd at Mendip R/C Raceway.  The numbers were good and so was the weather.  I took the TQ and then followed it up with a win in all 3 legs to secure round 1.  We moved onto to Torquay which was an indoor venue for the first round of the 2wd series.  Unfortunately things didn’t go so well for me there and I ended up with 4^th.  So with the 2wd, I had some work to do.

The second round of the 4wd took us to Tiverton.  We had really good numbers upwards of 50 drivers which is great for our region.  I took the overall TQ but unfortunately had some bad luck in the finals meaning I finished 2^nd.  This did mean that with a series round to spare, I had already won the 4wd regional series.  The second round of the 2wd series was to be held at Tiverton too.  This day went much better for me than Torquay and I took the TQ and overall win.

So with a round to go in each class, the 4wd was done for me but the 2wd was all to play for between potentially 4 drivers to win the series.  The third round of 2wd as at Mendip and I managed to TQ round 1 but was edged out of the overall TQ following some close racing and ended up 2^nd on the grid.  The 3 legs of the final were really good with some close and clean racing between 3 of us.  I ended up taking the overall win of the meeting to secure the 2wd regional series win.

Our regional series has be very well supported this and it’s great to see good numbers supporting the series so well done to all those that took part.
