Norwegian Championchip 1:8 Nitro buggy 2017 Report by Rune Karlsen

This weekend there was the Norwegian Championchip at Hof mbk racing track.

The biggest track in Norway with multiple surface. Mostly dirt but one astro corner, wood corner and paving stones section, using around 40sek lap times
48 drivers came this weekend to have fun and meet again.
Friday was practice, and all the fast guns where there to find the speed.
Saturday free practice was left out due to heavy rain friday night, so the race leader decided to delay the start and just make one round og pracitce. The crew from club made a good job to make the track ready.
1 qual, i took an easy win over Xray Factory driver Daniel Kobbevik, and his team mate Lars Erik Mo in 3.
2 qual i also took the win with same margins in front of Daniel and Bjørn Ivar just 3 tents off his time
3 qual it started to rain and i decided not to run, so Daniel would tq this round in front of Lars Erik, and Morten
4 qual the crew was out to prepare the track after the rain stopped, and i managed to take the win in this round too with very good margins, and make me top qualifier for the nationals. Second was Bjørn Ivar and 3. Yngve Brække Ulfset
Sunday we had one last round og qualification. the first group had some issues with the lap timer, so they had to re-run their heat after all the other quals. The track got faster during the heats, so Bjørn ivar won that round in front of me and Daniel in 3.
Semi practice started so did the rain, so i drove in the pits and started to prepare the car for the semi final.
Semi final A started and Bjørn Ivar was on my tail for a long time til he did a mistake. It was fun, but i knew i had a good pace even i had the wrong tires on the car. In the middle half Bjørn Ivar had som engine struggle and had  to fight hard to make the main. But he did. Yngve got second place in front of Danny Kwiatkowski and fourth place to Bjørn Ivar and Gisle Brøvig also to make the main
Semi final B started and Daniel from pole, Lars Erik in second, Morten in third, Hans Magne in fourth and Egil in fifth. It was a hard fight for the last spot with Anders chasing, but had some mistakes that cost him the final. The four first had the same posisions at the end, and Egil made it from start posision 6 to 5.
So the finals i knew it would be hard. I counted six persons who could take the win. So this was the hardest field ever to compete at the nationals. I felt the pressure since i did a comeback this year and having the nationals on my home track. I was very excited but would follow my strategy.
The Final. Starting on pole in front of Daniel and Yngve in third. The game was on and it was a clean start. Daniel on my tail and Yngve right behind. After 9 laps Yngve did a mistake and let me and Daniel play a little before i started to push a little harder. it worked and Daniel made a mistake. I was on fire and just getting a bigger lead. 40 minutes in the final i had lapped everybody. Daniel was in second place at that time, but Bjørn Ivar was faster and took over that place. Yngve got past as well to gain to third place when one lap to go. Daniel made a big mistake.
So after 45 minutes of racing i won with over 1 lap infront og Bjørn Ivar who also drives Kyosho and in third Yngve with his Mugen
I was so happy after this race. Everything worked as it should. Kyosho tki4 with Aka tires and os b2102 with byron fuel to make me pit every 9 minutes
National 2017 1:8 nitro in the books :)
Fy så rått. NORGESMESTER 2017 1:8 Nitro buggy.
