Race report Italian Job 2017 by Elliott Boots
Italian Job
Day 1 practice
Arriving at the famous indoor track in Italy , IBR Padova , it was very cold , so setting the car up and choosing tyres was
the days work
There was to be three rounds of practice , two rounds were controlled
Day 2
After a days practice , my Kyosho was feeling very good , but the track was changing a lot , so we wanted to get the car feeling a little easier to drive as the track was difficult with traction and grip.
I decided to run with Proline M4 Electrons , these were easy to drive on and with good traction, and I knew they would last the finals ok .
I was also using the Reds team edition engine , with the Reds Quattro clutch , set up for this engine/ clutch is on the Reds website or Facebook page .
With qualifying counting two out of three runs , it was going to be fairly tough with a lot of top euro drivers here, and seeing a lot of them with new cars for the first time.
I was able to qualify in 4th position, my car was feeling a little loose and needed to change some things for the semi final , so I can test in the semi warm up .
Semi final
I began the semi B in second place , but it wasn't long before I took the lead , my Kyosho was now feeling great , with changes to the set up , I was able to win my semi , and put in the fasted time by over 13 secs !! So I was on Pole for the hour long A main , and it was going to be a tough race !!
Main A final
One of the main worries for the final was making sure my tyres would last the whole hour, I wanted to use the Electrons , they felt awesome in the semi, so that's what I decided, and with my Reds team edition giving me over 9 mins fuel mileage I felt good for this long final
At the start the very fast young gun , Davide Ongaro past me , to take the lead , but I was feeling strong behind him as we broke away from the rest of the pack , I made a couple of bobbles and lost some ground , but it was a long final , so I could always see Davide , and slowly I would catch him , and after about 30mins he made a few mistakes , and I got into the lead and was able to gap him , then I just punched ahead and now in a nice lead , and my fuel stops were super fast , and I also knew I had a fuel stop in hand , so the second half of the race was good and I could now take the the Win for the second year running , so happy , great team work from all Kyosho drivers !!
I want to thank all the Kyosho team , and Mick Cradock for the amazing car prep! And all my sponsors 2017 so far !
