Here's the weekend report:

Round 9 and 10 of the SWICC series was held at Dorset Model Car Racing Club on 12th September. The club always puts on a good event for the travelling drivers and again this year they didn’t disappoint. With 2 new rolls of Prima felt carpet, new barriers and track markings the 22mx14m was looking good.

12 heats of Gt12, Lmp, Touring cars, Scale and Mini meant a busy day for all. With most of the Championships already decided and won by the DMCRC drivers there was only a few that could still go the distance.

In LMP new champion Lesro Models driver Stuart Parnell was ready with his nvision powered Kyosho Plazma RA for the challenge from the visiting drivers of Newbury, Yeovil, Weymouth and Chichester clubs. Meaning a larger than normal entry to LMP.

Round 1 Stuart lead the field with 37 in 365.69 and a best lap of 9.50, next closest was Lee Ellis with 35 in 361.97 best lap of 9.80 and Scott Dabinett with 34 in 363.44 best lap of 9.77.

Round 2, which turned out to be Stuart’s fastest qualifying round and an improvement over Round 1. He managed 38 in 367.26 with a best of 9.26. Lee and Scott didn’t manage to improve so Stuart was still unchallenged.

Round 3 and a lack of front additive on his car meant Stuart didn’t improve his time but Scott managed 35 in 360.77 with Lee right behind him with 35 in 360.91.

So with that the Grid for the 2 finals were:

1. Stuart Parnell
2. Scott Dabinett
3. Lee Ellis
4. Rob Warren
5. Martin Young
6. John Clark
7. Neil Cotty
8. Martin Sutcliffe

The start of the first final was a slightly messy affair due to the bleeps being silenced at an inappropriate moment but all got away. Stuart lead the field and even though his first lap was too fast for the computer he eventually took the lead on the PC even though he was miles ahead on track. A beep to flag win 48 laps in 487.51 and best of 9.41, Scott Dabinett in 2nd with 46 laps in 480.88 and Rob Warren just 3 tenths behind crossing the line in 481.18.

The 2nd final was a cleaner affair, but a couple of mistakes in the first 10 laps saw Stuart down to 3rd, but this didn’t stay that way for long as within 5 laps Stuart had regained the lead from Scott and was pulling away. The final finished with Stuart in 1st 48 laps in 485.19 and best of 9.51, Lee Ellis in 2nd 47 laps in 482.37, Rob Warren in 3rd with 47 laps in 488.43 and Scott 4th.

DMCRC have a nice touch of giving out medals for the finals so overall positions finished as Stuart in 1st, Scott in 2nd and Lee in 3rd.

Another perfect score from Stuart who has so far TQ’d every round so far and has won every final. The performance of his Kyosho Plazma RA seems upto the challenge from the other LMPs from AE, Corally, X-ray and Zen in this championship and Stuart looks forward to doing more running with it at the national at Newbury, that he will be attending.
